Changes to Blackboard Tests and Surveys

A change to online Tests is coming

Around the 18th of July, DMU’s Virtual Learning Environment (Blackboard) is being updated. With this comes a subtle but important change to the way that Tests and Surveys behave with regard to Auto-Submission.

Previously, we could enable the Force Completion setting to ensure students completed a Test or Survey in one sitting without forcing the auto-submission at the end of the allotted time. However, this will change after the 18th and if Force Completion is enabled, Auto-Submit will default to ‘Yes’ and it cannot be turned off.

As always, your local Digital Learning and Teaching team has produced guidance with a recommendation regarding this change and this guidance is available on the Digital Learning and Teaching Hub.

Tests and Surveys in the curriculum

With Education 2030 on the horizon; Blackboard Tests will offer a relatively quick and easy mechanism for gathering waypoint assessment information outside of timetabled sessions.

Multiple Choice Questions enable ‘machine marking’ and the opportunity to provide automated feedback, for more information and guidance on using Tests and Surveys take a look at the Digital Learning and Teaching guides.
