Coming soon – a video with transcript
This guide talks about the process required to ‘provision’ a Blackboard shell for DMU Replay (Panopto) use. It is critical that this process is followed as without the provisioning, you will not be able to log on to the Panopto system when recording and therefore you will not be able to use DMU Replay.
When setting up a new Blackboard shell, it is important when copying Panopto content using the Blackboard Course Copy function that the destination shell is provisioned prior to the Course Copy being completed.
What you will need
- An internet-connected computer.
Ensure that the Edit Mode is turned on.
Click on any content area in the left hand menu.
For clarity, the example below shows a new content area titled ‘Panopto’ but the following steps can be enacted using any content area in order to provision the shell.
With the mouse, hover over the ‘Tools’ section and select ‘Panopto Video Link’.
Select ‘Add Course to Panopto’.
Click the second ‘Add Course to Panopto’ button.
You will now see a report stating that the course was successfully provisioned along with a list of the Instructors and Students who now have access to recordings that might be associated with the Blackboard shell.
Click on the ‘OK’ button.
For a typical set up where only colleagues and students who are enrolled on this Blackboard shell are to be given access to recordings for this module, click ‘Submit’.
You will see a list of ‘Available Folders’ toward the left of the screen. If you require students who are enrolled on a different module to view recordings that are associated with this shell, select the other module in the Available Folders list and click ‘Add’ prior to clicking ‘Submit’. The other module’s Blackboard shell must be Panopto provisioned for a corresponding folder to appear in this view.
The Blackboard shell is now provisioned. On the next screen you will be given the opportunity to add a Panopto video link but typically there will be no videos to add at this stage as you have provisioned the Blackboard shell in advance of making any recordings.
