What is my Blackboard username and password?
And how do I login?

To login to Blackboard you need a username and password. (These are the same ones that you use for logging into the Staff Portal or any other DMU system that uses Single Sign On) Your Blackboard username is normally the same as your email username, i.e. your first initial and the first 5 letters of your surname, plus two digits (e.g. jsmith00). It is derived from the Human Resources database. If you are unsure what your Blackboard username is you can make a request for it via the ITMS self-service request portal: https://servicedesk.dmu.ac.uk/Sostenuto/SContacts

Your Blackboard password is set, initially, as your date of birth in dd/mm/yy format (including slashes). We recommend that you change your password at your earliest convenience to something more secure than your date of birth. [tell me how]

To login to Blackboard you enter your username and password at the Blackboard login page which is accessed from the Blackboard entry page at https://vle.dmu.ac.uk

Why can’t I login to Blackboard?

You may be having difficulty logging in because you have entered your username and/or password incorrectly, or you may be providing the wrong information. For example, if your password is still your date of birth (i.e. you haven’t changed it yet), remember to enter the slashes along with the numbers. If you are a new member of staff, your details may not yet be on the relevant DMU database and this will mean that you are unable to login to Blackboard. You will need to wait until this has been done. If you are still having problems after making these simple checks, contact the people in the Faculty who provide support.
